The Jordan Blass Award is presented annually to a Senior Division cheerleader and football player who most exemplifies the sportsmanship and team work of West Melbourne Football & Cheerleading.
Jordan Blass was a 12-year old West Melbourne football player (and Viera/Suntree Little League player) who was hit and killed by a car on January 4, 1999. Jordan was riding his bike on the sidewalk near Suntree Elementary School when a driver lost control of his car and veered onto the sidewalk.
Jordan wore #8 on his jersey, and that number has been retired in his memory from all West Melbourne tackle uniforms, and the tree near the equipment room was planted in his honor.
